I came across this book the other day, a fabulous book about English Literature by William J. Long. As I was reading more and more of it I discovered how important the existence of Literature in mankind is; and how by reconstructing the past through unique literary pieces we can build a great future.
Feel like Gods and Goddesses and rejoice with this:
Importance of Literature: It is a curious and prevalent opinion that literature, like all art, is a mere play of imagination, pleasing enough, like a new novel, but without any serious or practical importance. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Literature preserves the ideals of a people; and ideals--love, faith, duty, friendship, freedom, reverence--are the part of human life most worthy of preservation. The Greeks were a marvelous people; yet of all their mighty works we cherish only a few ideals,--ideals of beauty in perishable stone, and ideals of truth in imperishable prose and poetry. It was simply the ideals of the Greeks and Hebrews and Romans, preserved in their literature, which made them what they were, and which determined their value to future generations. Our democracy, the boast of all English-speaking nations, is a dream; not the doubtful and sometimes disheartening spectacle presented in our legislative halls, but the lovely and immortal ideal of a free and equal manhood, preserved as a most precious heritage in every great literature from the Greeks to the Anglo-Saxons. All our arts, our sciences, even our inventions are founded squarely upon ideals; for under every invention is still the dream of Beowulf, that man may overcome the forces of nature; and the foundation of all our sciences and discoveries is the immortal dream that men "shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."
William’s opinion about ideals makes me wonder. Can writing really free the inner beast? Will our ideals change as society once we conquer our individual fears? Will we be as gods, knowing good and evil?

Being literature the result of the inner expressions of mankind, men could beleive once they were Gods, because of the capabilities he had. Even nowadays the story is almost the same. But the history of humanity has been shown, letting us clear, the week human beings are... In front of the power of nature, men is like a little grain flowing through the air... so we can not think ever, we have the disignation of things. And throug literature is that men has shown to each generation, the way things has happened. And when talking about power we could say that the power of nature is most powerfull than anithyng in the universe, and it is something that men will never take domain of...
It is stupid and ridiculous to se men trying to conquer another planet than to save the one they live in... ¨Playing to be Gods...¨
Can writing really free the inner beast? I think not because a person who read or got knowledge is not a ¨beast¨ because when a person got information and knowledge has the power to write something god or bad.. I think that to be a beast is a decision that the person chose. I mean when a person write is because he or she has a previous knowledge and a beast has not knowledge, a beast has ignorance. So a person who has knowledge and make the decision to be a beast, ¨ I mean to do bad things whit the knowledge¨ is a big big beast.
Will our ideals change as society once we conquer our individual fears? Yes because each person gives influence with his/her life to others people during the day and life. If I conquer the fears in my life I´ll show a different behavior and I´ll be a model to others, I mean I´ll influence the society. So I´ll take the decision to influence the society in a god or in a bad way.
Will we be as gods, knowing good and evil? I think not because if I believe that I am a god because of the knowledge that I have or got I am wrong. God has given
to all mankind the opportunity to got information to know good and bad concepts, what I do(bad or good things) whit this information is my decision and God respects my decisions because He has given to me¨ Free Will¨ and I have to receive the consequences for my acts.
If you are a good reader and you get into the story you are reading a good writer can free the inner beast on you, how so? You start to do your own juice based on your values and it can transform dependent of the context of the story. I mean, when you share feelings with the characters you feel an inner desire to take a pay back. Also, a good reader who learn the different between good and evil and practice this can feel as god, remember that knowledge is power and power is what makes us feel as god.
Men is a human been capable to understand what is good or evil, and more interesting, he/ she can choose between them; based on this, man can creates through knowledge, values, truth or lies, according to the conscience, what men wants to transmit; somehow, the control of this elements makes that men has some minute power that at the same time makes them feel like god; but is not necessarily one. In fact is far away to be a god!
At the end is not a matter of dominate our fears it’s a matter men write and had written what people wants to see or hear, sometimes is good sometimes not good! And, why this occurs? Occurs because, the man is always in the search to be an idealist.
Our world exist with their things because in mankind is ideal like men in past wanted to be more or less today. That is evolution of the knowledge in man’s mind. All thing thanks the Literature because most human know about some ideal ideas to people lived trying to conquer freedom, friendship, faith, democracy to live in a society.
All idea had grown when a person is able to express it uses a language value to understand per a society. But when we think and do not express it is same to be not thinking. Our ideas need to put forward for people because it can be needed to change the world in a specific moment.
We need express our ideas with good methods to astonish the world and it grows the possibility that it ideas is in knowledge of humankind forever.
when the man gets knowledge learn of values and many elements that makes him be capable of identify what is good or evil and is capable of make his own juice based on his beliefs, faith and values.It makes that man has power and feel like God is because the man go in the search of the idealism.
The knoledge is like a Sword and a shield, that make us truly owner of our destiny. Obviously we have to identify what is good and what is evil because sometimes knoledge becomes in a bad weapon againts ourselves if we do not take the control and concider ourselves like gods.
writing can release a beast called ideals, and the ideals is the trigger to make anything happens. when humans are capable of control their individual fears,then and only then, they can change our society because individual fears stop the development of any kind of progress that mankind do. on the other hand even if mankind achieves goals and knowledge will never be as gods because there will be something that we have to look for.
